Welcome to the BioGeek Wiki!

This is the place to find information about Mr. H's science class. There are several important items on this page to pay attention to.

First, for new students, I have a page devoted to the supplies you will need for class, and some early information regarding what you can expect this year. The MOST important thing is my course syllabus which is handed out at the beginning of the year. If you don't have a copy but need to see it, you can access it here.

Second, I have also posted many of the handouts I use in class. The units are listed below. Clicking on the unit you want will take you to another page with more information about that unit. One of the links on that page is to the handouts for that unit. If you have handouts you are missing due to loss, forgetfulness, a messy room, notebook or bookbag, or you have a very hungry pet, please feel free to come here and print out another copy. Some work may not be present due to copyright regulations!

Third, you will see a number of links lower down this page. I have links to various web sites we will use this year, tutorials on using those sites, and some links to journaling and projects we may do this year. This site is an important one to visit any time you have questions or need to find information about class. If you can't find it here, please ask me!

Web 2.0 Cool Tools for Schools

The site linked here (Web 2.0 Cool Tools for School) is a massive list of all kinds of tools that you could use this year...for blogging, for glogging, for creativity, for anything you can think of. Feel free to explore the list and if you see something really fun and useful, please share it with us. Some of these sites are free, some cost money, some work on the web, some require downloads. Please be smart! If a site costs money or requires a download, please check with your parents/guardians before you do anything. I have not had the time to check out each and every site on this wiki. However, since they are tools for school, they should be fine. If you find something inappropriate, please let me know. When you check something out, go up to the discussion tab at the top of the page and enter a comment on the discussion called Web 2.0.

Discussions

I have posted some discussion topics that I would like your comments on. To add a comment you would need to log in to your class wikispace and then go to the "Discussion" tab at the top of the page. Post your comments to either topic, or both, and check back often to see how the discussion is unfolding.

Project: Childhood Diseases/Conditions ELA/Science Project

The following link will take you to a page for information about this project. The project packet will be posted, as well as links to information sites you may need in your research. If you have questions, make sure you ask me in class, send me an email or send me a message on Edmodo. The only dumb questions are the ones you never ask!

Science Journal Information

Interactive Science Journal: On this page I have saved several examples of student journal reflections which show excellent use of the reflection format we discussed in class. Please check out these pages to see what good reflections look like.
